Following many years of individual private practice, Dr. Joan Wood and Dr. James Fruehling, licensed psychologists practicing in Arlington Heights, Illinois (northwest suburb of Chicago), joined
forces in 1990 to create Arlington Psychological Services.
APS was formed in response to the increasing need for pragmatic,
solution-oriented services designed to assist individuals in living more effective, satisfying
lives and responding to the many stresses and challenges they face. Since 1990
Arlington Psychological Services has achieved a reputation for successfully assisting
individuals, couples and families.
We at Arlington Psychological Services believe that therapy is a collaborative effort
in which clients and therapist work together to identify and progress toward agreed upon
goals. We have a personal investment in the achievement of positive outcomes for all our clients.
We believe that in order for this to occur we must create an environment, that is supportive,
respectful of individual differences and challenging. We also believe that treatment approaches
must be tailored to the specific needs of individual clients.
These are changing times with respect to mental health care. We are committed to assisting
those who require third party reimbursement from insurance companies or managed care systems
to maximize their benefits.
We will assist those who are not so constrained to achieve the goals, that they identify and set
out to accomplish. Every effort will be made to achieve treatment plan goals in the minimum number
of sessions.
